Description:
Maps of community turnover, changes in species richness, and the uncertainty underlying these synthetic analyses. Community turnover and species richness consist of 8 layers each: 2 emission scenarios 2 taxa (bird/plant) 2 stats (avg, std) value = 0..1 turnover Species Richness could consist of 8 layers (same as above) 2c) Uncertainty could consist of 4 layers 2 emissions scenaros 2 taxa (bird/plant)
Format:
GeoTiff
Processing & Workflow:
The current and future breeding distributions of 50 species of California birds and 50 plant species were modeled using five statistical algorithms, 2 emission scenarios and 16 general circulation models. These models were used to create spatial estimates of changes in species bird and plan species richness and community turnover. We estimated the change in species by summing the change in habitat suitability across species for each algorithm x emission scenario x gcm combination. We then calculated the mean and standard deviation from the resulting grids.
Quality Checks:
Distribution models were evaluated by comparing predictions with independent observations, existing range maps and expert opinion
