Data Management Plan Section

Suitable range maps for invasive plants

General Information
DMP Section Type:
Data Output - Product or Deliverable
Deliverable Type:
Map
Description:
Maps showing projected future range of 79 invasive plants, based on current (2010) and future (2050) climate. Models used an ensemble of 17 Global Circulation Models from PRISM and were run using (open source) Maxent software. Maps are posted on CalWeedMapper (calweedmapper.calflora.org).
Format:
Available online at calweedmapper.calflora.org. ASCII copies backed up at Cal-IPC.
Source:
Calflora (www.calflora.org), numerous datasets collected from agencies working on invasive plant management. Datasets were uploaded to Calflora and most are available to the public.
Processing & Workflow:
Datasets provided by numerous land managers were uploaded to Calflora. Models used an ensemble of 17 Global Circulation Models from PRISM and were run using (open source) Maxent software. Variables used in the models were the 19 temperature and precipitation variables from Bioclim (worldclim.org/bioclim), calculated from the PRISM data. Models were run using 2010 and 2050 climate.
Quality Checks:
Data contributors were contacted as necessary to answer questions. We used data collected since 1980 to reduce the chance that the results were no longer accurate. After uploading, data were compared against expert knowledge data on the plants' range in California.
Backup & Storage:
Data stored on Calflora. Model results stored on CalWeedMapper and backed up at Host GIS and Cal-IPC
Repository for Data:
CalWeedMapper
Restrictions:
Some datasets were provided to us with the restriction that they be used for this project only and not made publicly accessible due to privacy concerns for private land.
